STANDARD PACKS

Pack 1 and 2 come with Waterproof Carpet underlay - a peel-and-stick closed cell foam that you stick on the Sound Deadener.
Pack 1 insulates everything but the roof and doors, and Pack 2 adds on the roof and door insulation.


The 4x4 Short Wheel Base Wagon Floor pan sound deadening Standard Pack 2 includes:

  • 4 Boxes (7.2 sq/m) of Stage 1 Sound Deadener - Install on your floor pan, inner 1/4 panels, doors, roof and rear wheel arches.
  • 2 Boxes (3.6 sq/m) Water Proof Carpet Underlay - Lightweight, closed cell, peel and stick foam. At 10mm the waterproof underlay will replicate your factory underlay, reduce heat transfer and will cover your floor pan.
  • 1 Sheet (1.5 sq/m) Mass Noise Liner - 2 in 1 closed cell thermal waterproof underlay with the addition of a heavy-weight mass-loaded vinyl install in the cargo area.
  • 3 Sheets (3 sq/m) Insul-Layer - Closed cell peel and stick foam to reduce noise and heat entering and exiting your roof skin.
  • 1 Install kit - Application Roller, Utility Knife and Aluminium Foil Tape


Car Builders Stage 1 Sound Deadener is a vibration (sound) dampening mat. It consists of a butyl rubber noise absorption layer combined with an aluminium top layer.

Each box has 12 sheets, each sheet is 300x500mm and 2mm-2.2mm thick.

Car Builders butyl based Sound Deadener does not require heating, does not smell, and will not go brittle over time, which are all qualities of old-style tar or bitumen sound-deadening materials.

Car Builders Sound Deadener has pressure-sensitive butyl rubber, which is inherently sticky eliminating the risk of an adhesive layer failing.

Car Builders Mass Noise Liner is a 12mm thick, heavy-weight, acoustic barrier. This product is used over the top of sound deadening (stage 1) which is applied directly onto the sheet metal.
Sound deadening stops noise created by panel vibration whereas Mass Noise Liner (stage 2) reduces airborne noise generated from the engine, road, etc.
This premium carpet underlay is an OEM product used in high-end luxury vehicles. Mass Noise Liner replaces cotton jute or shoddy, creating far superior soundproofing results.


Construction

2mm Mass Loaded vinyl upper layer, coupled with a 10mm closed cell foam to create the most effective means of acoustic blocking.
Our flexible closed-cell foam is water-resistant and offers superior thermal insulation.

It is not 100% necessary to put Stage 1 Sound Deadener underneath Mass Noise Liner on cargo area floors or van floors due to the metal already being fairly rigid from the ribs.
The Mass Noise Liner will be an effective floor soundproofing by itself.


Ideal for:

  • 4WDs and muscle cars - firewall barrier to reduce engine noise
  • Trucks - reduce engine noise and heat on floors and firewalls, great for serviceability
  • Exhaust drone - drop in as a boot liner to reduce exhaust drone particularly common in 6's, V8s, and flat fours.
  • Engine rooms, compressors, etc


Note: due to the weight of our Mass Noise Liner it is not recommended for use on the underside of horizontal surfaces.
For these applications, you should use our lightweight foam such as Acoustic Liner, Waterproof carpet underlay, Under bonnet insulation, or our 6mm Insul-layer.


Car Builders Acoustic Liner is a multi-layer open and closed cell foam with a peel-and-stick backing.
It offers a high level of acoustic and thermal insulation superior to traditional jute underlay.


NOTE: For all inverted applications, such as roof skins and vertical applications, we recommend applying our upholstery grade Spray Adhesive rate at 120°C.


Car Builders premium underlay is today's answer to predated jute and cotton mill scrap traditionally used under carpets. Acoustic Liner will not rot, or attract mould, is easy to cut, and does not require the application of glue (unless it is being laid in an inverted position).
